The season of giving has come early for four student-serving DDCE programs during the month-long HornRaiser campaign. Throughout November, you have the opportunity to make a big impact on these programs that all work to boost students’ personal and professional success here at UT Austin and long after graduation.

The Heman Sweatt Center for Black Males

The Heman Sweatt Center for Black Males (formerly AAMRI)  is an innovative academic community, consisting of professors, administrators, graduate and undergraduate students, that works to improve academic success and acclimation for Black male students. Funds will go toward the center’s many programs and services, including big events, professional development activities, academic services and more. Got to their fundraiser page to make your gift.

Gender and Sexuality Center Crisis Fund

The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) is to provide opportunities for all members of the UT Austin community to explore, organize and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. For more than 15 years, the GSC has been providing resources, support and community to thousands of women and LGBTQIA+ students here on campus.  Although the GSC offers many free services, such as a food bank stocked with healthy foods on the go, there is still a need to provide for students who are facing times of financial crisis. First-Generation Longhorns

The DDCE’s First-Generation Longhorns initiative is aimed at students who are the first in their families to attend or finish college. The initiative connects students at UT Austin with a robust support network comprised of prominent alumni, staff, faculty and friends who were also the first in their families to attend and graduate college. China 2020

Help send 25 East-Austin 9th graders to China. Students have been recruited from their local middle schools during their 8th grade. Participating middle schools of the DDCE’s Neighborhood Longhorns Program provides educationally disadvantaged youth with the resources to build a strong academic future. The initiative is designed to help them develop skills in cultural proficiency, entrepreneurship, civic leadership, team building, and global citizenship. You can give these students a once in a lifetime opportunity! Let’s get them to China this summer! Visit their fundraiser page to make your gift.
