Description:The Strategic Sourcing and Package Engineering (SSPS) organization has a role opening for a Sourcing Specialist/Agent as an Electronics and Metals Category Manager. This role has responsibility for effectively managing 3M’s Contract Electronic Manufacturing sourcing category in the US. The selected candidate will be required to work cross-functionally across 3M Divisions in support of manufacturing and supply chain operations – contributing directly towards achieving service/cost/quality objectives while “protecting the corporation.” This position will be located at 3M Austin Center in Austin, Tx until our move to the new 3M Austin Facility at the Parmer Innovation Center in ~April 2019,

SCHOLARSHIPS (Fall 2018)

Description: The First Abroad Scholarship supports first-generation students planning for a study abroad experience. It is a one-time scholarship of $3,000 used to fund participation in a UT-approved study abroad program. We will award 15 students in the 2018-19 school year.
This scholarship is ideal for first-generation students that know they want to study abroad, but have not yet chosen a program. Recipients work with an advisor to explore program options, learn about funding opportunities, and establish an academic plan for study abroad. Program: Texas Student Research Showdown.
Application Deadline: Submissions are due Oct. 15, and winners will be announced at a reception Nov. 14.
Description: All undergrad researchers at The University of Texas at Austin are invited to submit a 2-minute research video and compete for $5,000.
In this annual video competition, student researchers create two-minute videos about their research, which are voted on by UT students and judged by a faculty panel. The judges’ top videos receive prizes recognizing their excellence in research communication — $2,500, $1,000, and $500 for the top three. In addition, students may choose to compete in an “audience choice” competition, with a $1,000 prize for the winner. With larger awards and a simplified format, there’s never been a better year to enter!

Description: The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) is seeking applications for a new Undergraduate Diversity Scholars initiative. This program would bring ten (10) undergraduates from underrepresented groups to the ARNOVA annual conference in November 2018 to attend a workshop on paths to higher education, ideally in the field of nonprofit, philanthropic, and voluntary action studies. Students will participate in a Professional Development Workshop (PDW) to be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 as a pre-session of the ARNOVA Annual Conference in Austin, TX. The PDW will introduce participants to the world of non-profit social science research and pathways to higher education. Scholars will also attend panels based on each student’s research interest, will have opportunity to meet current graduate students and faculty from underrepresented communities, to learn alongside senior scholars in the field and to participate in an array of social and scholarly conversations. The hope is that this opportunity will provide a window into the work and life of social science researchers and evaluators.
