2017-18 school year is off to a great start at UT Elementary School. We
are excited to share some of the amazing things happening at the school
through this edition of the Little
Fifth Graders Learn about Nature
and Themselves at Outdoor School
Thirty-seven fifth-grade students at UT
Elementary School took part in a unique experiential learning
opportunity in September – Outdoor
During this three-day field trip at Camp Champions in Marble Falls, TX,
students learned about the natural environment while also engaging in
fun and exciting personal development and team-building experiences.
Activities included kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, and studying
plants and animals.
Before students stepped foot on campus for the
new school year, UTES teachers and staff gathered in August for the annual
convocation ceremony. This year’s theme was “Everyday Super
H.E.R.O.E.S. – Helping Every child Reach their Own Educational
Longhorns Take in the Eclipse
On August 21, UT Elementary School students
celebrated the awesomeness that was the solar
The first total solar eclipse to take place in the U.S. in 38 years,
this experience enabled students to see science come to life.
Volunteer Spotlight: Google and UT
On September 23, more than 80 volunteers from
the Google Hispanic employee leadership group – HOLA and students from
UT Austin’s Subiendo program joined UTES, students, staff, and families
to beautify the campus for Green
