SSD Calendar of Welcome Events
Deaf/Hard of Hearing Meet and Greet
Tuesday September 5th: 5:30pm-7:30pm at the National Deaf Center (SZB 522, Room 228)
Come meet and mingle with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, faculty and staff at UT while getting a look at the National Deaf Center space on campus! Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time and enjoy light snacks during this informal event. All are welcome to attend!
Accommodation Orientation
Wednesday September 6th from 3:30-5pm
Accommodation Orientation for incoming freshman and transfer students. We’ll be reviewing the process for using your accommodations at UT, demonstrating how to use the SSD Web Portal and giving you a chance to hear from current UT students about their experiences and advice for being a successful student at UT. RSVP Required.
Accommodation Orientation and Resource Fair
Thursday September 7th- Resource Fair from 5:30-6:30, Accommodation Orientation from 6:30-8pm
Accommodation Orientation and Resource Fair for incoming freshman and transfer students. During our Resource Fair you’ll have the opportunity to meet with some of our campus partners and student organizations. Do you want to improve your self-advocacy skills? Do have questions or concerns about discussing your accommodations with your instructors? This self-advocacy training will help you develop or improve your self-advocacy skills and give you the opportunity to practice advocating for yourself in a supportive environment.

disABILITY Advocacy Student Coalition (DASC) Meeting
September 14th at 6pm in SAC 3.116
Are you interested in disability awareness and education on campus? Do you want to connect with other students with disabilities? Join the disABILITY Advocacy Student Coalition (DASC) at their first meeting of the semester and learn what this organization has planned for the semester! Questions? Email dascatut@gmail.com.
Tea and Tech: Overview of the SSD Web Portal
September 19th 11am-2pm in SSB 4.212
SSD uses a web portal to help students coordinate accommodations. Students can use the Web Portal to download Accommodation Letters, reserve exams, and request a notetaker. Drop by any time from 11am-2pm to enjoy some light snacks while you get an overview of the web portal and to ask questions and problem-solve. Bring your laptop and we’ll make sure you know how to navigate the Web Portal like a pro!
Student Services Building (SSB) 20th Anniversary Celebration
September 22nd- 11am-2pm, Student Services Building
Did you know the Student Services Building has been open for 20 years? Come join in the celebration and learn about all the different departments housed inside the SSB. There will be free food, fun and prizes so stop by and learn about all the services available to you as a UT student!
