Under Texas Education Code Section 54.205, students who are certified as functionally deaf in a classroom and are a Texas resident are entitled to have tuition, required fees and the general property deposit exempted. Contact the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing division for information about eligibility requirements and how to secure certification.
After obtaining the Certification, turn in a copy to the Special Billing office in MAI 4. You will then need to “confirm attendance” prior to each semester through your ‘My Tuition Bill’ website at: www.utexas.edu/business/accounting/sar, select View your bill, and confirm. A message in green stating “Your Registration is Complete”, is your confirmation for that given semester.
