The Longhorn Campaign for Men of Color (LCMC) is The University of Texas at Austin’s response to the national call to action of the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative. We pledge to measurably improve the educational and social outcomes for boys and young men of color in local, state, and national communities by bringing the intellectual resources of UT Austin to these communities across the full spectrum of engagement, from theory to practice. Using the latest research to develop and inform evidence-based practices, we forge strong relationships with community and university partners who put these practices into action, which in turn help to produce models for success. We also collect and share this research in order to advance knowledge that will further transform the lives of young men of color.
Some areas we work in include:
- Pre-K through Ph.D. academic success programs
- Mentoring boys and young men of color
- Breaking the school-to-prison pipeline
