On Tuesday, April 9, Mayor Lee Leffingwell will join more than 600 other mayors around the country in honoring the impact of AmeriCorps VISTA and other national service programs during a Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service.
A ceremony will be held at Austin City Hall in the Council Chambers beginning at 1 p.m. Leaders and distinguished guests will celebrate hundreds of national service members who have been serving in the Austin, supporting local nonprofits, protecting the environment and working with underprivileged youth.
On a related note, The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is partnering with the City of Austin to fill positions with AmeriCorps VISTA this summer. You can learn more about that partnership and the open positions by clicking here and here.
