Two hundred undergraduates (approximately 70% of whom are first-generation, economically disadvantaged or from underrepresented populations) enrolled this semester in the Intellectual Entrepreneurship (IE) Pre Grad Internship program. They work with graduate student mentors and faculty in approximately 60 academic disciplines in UT’s colleges/schools. For many interns conducting original research is a key component of their IE experience. Because of the generosity of UT’s deans, some IE interns are able travel to and present their research at academic conferences.
Dr. Rick Cherwitz, founder and executive director of the IE program recently released a report that features some of the research and creative projects of the spring 2014 IE Pre Grad interns in 10 of UT’s colleges. It may be downloaded: Spring 14 IE Research Report.pdf.
