The event, hosted by University of Texas Libraries, will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 5:30-8 p.m. at the Fine Arts Library , room 3.200.

Miss Major’s life as “Mama” and mentor to many transgender people has been informed by her experiences incarcerated in the male prison unit of Clinton Correctional Facility, as sex trade worker and veteran of the Stonewall Rebellion, as a survivor of eye cancer and kidney transplant surgery, and as a defender of HIV victims’ rights.

Major currently serves as the Executive Director for the Transgender GenderVariant Intersex Justice Project, an organization that advocates for transgender persons who have been disproportionately affected by the judicial system and targeted by law enforcement.
