The Lavender Graduation Ceremony includes:

  • exhilarating speeches from UT faculty, administrators, students and alumni
  • the chance to cross the lavender stage to celebrate your success, and to receive a Lavender Graduation certificate as well as a rainbow tassel
  • music, cupcakes and food to share with friends, family and well-wishers
This year’s keynote speaker will be Thomas Tonatiuh Lopez, a prominent voice in the resistance movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline. He spent months working with the International Indigenous Youth Council on the ground at Standing Rock.

Lavender Graduation is co-hosted by the Gender and Sexuality Center, The Queer & Trans Students Alliance (QTSA) and the Queer Graduate Student Alliance (QGSA). The goal is to provide a venue to demonstrate the success of UT Austin’s LGBTQ+ community members in a personal, entertaining and celebratory way.  Follow the online conversation: #longhornlavgrad.
