Front Porch Gathering to Address Immigration Policy in Austin

Image of Front Porch Gathering poster Austin residents, activists, advocates and community leaders will address immigration policy in Austin at the Community Engagement Center’s Front Porch Gathering event Tuesday, Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m. at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2211 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

With heightened immigration policies, travel procedures and ICE raids, Central Texas and the city of Austin have had to grapple with local response and the realities of the “sanctuary city” as both policy and practice. Join this community-wide discussion to explore the critical realities of legislation and its effects on education, healthcare and policing.

This Front Porch Gathering will provide space to review the localized effects of federal legislation and discuss infrastructure for information sharing and support for undocumented individuals and their families.

The event is free and open to the public. Food will be provided by Alegria Catering and Fiestas. Go here for more details.
