KLRU’s Decibel to Streamline Front Porch Gathering Discussion on Affordable Housing

image of porchDecibel, KLRU’s new public affairs platform featuring stories and issues important to Austin, will streamline the Community Engagement Center’s upcoming Front Porch Gathering event on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 6:30 p.m. at Austin Community College Eastview Campus (All Purpose Room).

Speakers at the event titled “Affordable Housing Accessibility” will address the inequities created due to economic shifts in housing, and how social practices and cultural identity shape this conversation. Which communities are being displaced and why? How has gentrification determined mechanisms of access? How is affordable housing defined and whom does it benefit? These are some of the questions to be answered and explored with community stakeholders, residents and those who have been displaced and/or negatively affected by the process of gentrification and the inequitable structures in place for affordable housing.

The event is free and open to the public. Food will be provided by Galloway’s Sandwich Shop
