The Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign, The University of Texas at Austin’s tradition of charitable giving, received the Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) award for the highest percent participation for a state agency with more than 1,500 employees. The campaign was also awarded for the highest retiree participation in Central Texas.

Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and the generosity of UT Austin’s employees, a total amount of $519,124 was raised, meeting 87 percent of the campaign’s goal. Everyone who contributed has made it a little easier for the charities to reach their goals and missions in the coming year.

As part of the SECC, Hearts of Texas provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to contribute to more than 500 charities. Organized by the DDCE, the campaign runs throughout the entire month of October. Since this effort began in 1996 UT Austin has donated nearly $10 million to worthy causes. Visit the Hearts of Texas website for more details.
