Panel to Explore Social Media and Free Speech
The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement invites you to a panel on “Social Media and Free Speech” on Wednesday, May 2, 12-1:30 p.m. at the Texas Union, Santa Rita Room (UNB 3.502).
The panel will explore the following questions: Does the First Amendment apply to social media? After all, the First Amendment protects individuals from government censorship, but social media platforms are owned by private companies. Does censorship take new forms in our digital age? Is speech on social media platforms protected at all?
