UT Elementary School Fundraiser Event Celebrates 15 Years of Excellence
UT Elementary School celebrated its 15-year anniversary with more than 230 guests at a special fundraising dinner held on Monday, April 9.
The event, which raised nearly $120,000, spotlighted the school’s signature “Margin of Excellence” programs including social and emotional learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), multicultural arts, music, and health and wellness.
Guests arrived to a special performance by the Little Longhorn Accordion Club, which performed hits such as “La Bamba” and the UT spirit song, “The Eyes of Texas.”
During the event, UT Austin President Gregory L. Fenves announced the successful completion of the $4 million fundraising campaign for phase two of the school’s facilities project. This phase will provide new and updated classrooms and enhanced outdoor spaces to further the school’s mission.
“UT Elementary would not be the special school that it is without support from the highest levels at The University of Texas,” Fenves said. “Up to this point, UT Austin and the UT System have already invested nearly $9 million for our four acres of land and the school’s facilities.”
Honorary guests included Mickey and Jeanne Klein, who received the prestigious Dan Burck Visionary Award in recognition for their significant contributions to the school.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the evening was a student-parent panel moderated by master of ceremonies, Olga Campos Benz. The panel included William Ntsoane, a UT Elementary School alumnus who is now completing the first year of his mechanical engineering studies at UT Austin.
