Byron Anderson to Chair DDCE Advisory Council

Vice President Leonard N. Moore has announced that University of Texas at Austin alum Byron Anderson will replace outgoing DDCE Advisory Council Chair Hector de Leon. Anderson has served on the Council since its inception in 2007. “Byron has been an invaluable advisor to me on DDCE strategic initiatives during the past year,” said Moore. “He is extremely interested in helping DDCE maximize its strengths to have a greater impact on campus and in the broader community.”
Anderson has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance, energy and utilities industries where he specialized in the areas of governance, risk and compliance within the commodities trading sector. But the work of the DDCE remains special to Anderson. “DDCE’s work fostering an environment where inclusive global education, innovation, entrepreneurship and community outreach are celebrated is so important. I am most proud to be a part of a group of people who truly represent the University’s core values.”
During his tenure on the DDCE Advisory Council, he has served as a DDCE Ambassador for “The Project” UT’s Largest Day of Service, and helped develop a partnership between DDCE and the Texas Exes for this worldwide event.
As a Life Member of the Texas Ex-Student’s Association, he served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Exes Houston Chapter (2005-2008) and the Texas Exes Advisory Council (2003-2005). He also served two-terms as Chair of the Texas Exes Black Alumni Steering Committee (2003-2005). Anderson currently is a member of the Texas Leadership Society and the UT Chancellor’s Council.
Anderson holds a BA in Government with a minor in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA in Finance from the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He also holds the designation of Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) as awarded by the Compliance Certification Board.
