Throughout the month of November, three DDCE initiatives are rallying for donations via the university-wide HornRaiser crowdfunding campaign. Any gift—large or small—will go a long way toward supporting these programs and the students they serve.
The Fearless Leadership Institute (FLI)
FLI is designed to advance Black women and Latinas through academic excellence, professional development and personal growth. Several campus programs are organized throughout the semester that focus on all aspects of personal and professional development. The institute holds weekly workshops to address topics ranging from financial responsibility to networking to healthy relationships. Its mission is to cultivate empowered and innovative women as they prepare to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin and move into the next stage of their lives. Give here.
The African American Male Research Initiative (AAMRI)
AAMRI is a faculty-led academic initiative rooted in evidence-based practices to promote academic excellence among African American males. AAMRI includes a research focus that informs public policy experts, practitioners and concerned citizens on how best to create and maintain a culture of Black male excellence in K-20 settings. This research guides a hands-on practical approach to help AAMRI achieve its major goals: to increase the four-year graduation rate for African American males at The University of Texas at Austin and to increase the number of Black males attending four-year colleges and universities across the state of Texas. First Gen Longhorn Initiative
The First Generation Initiative is aimed at students who are the first in their families to attend or finish college. We are here to connect first-generation college students at UT with a robust support network comprised of prominent UT alumni, staff, faculty and friends who were also the first generation in their families to attend and graduate college. Give here.
