The Community Engagement Center (CEC) was honored with the Community Service Award at the Austin NAACP banquet held on Dec. 1 at the Hyatt Regency Town Lake.

Speakers at the event focused on an issue that is especially important in Austin’s rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods: Affordable housing. This issue, among other socioeconomic barriers embedded in underserved Austin communities, is also being addressed by faculty and staff at the CEC who spearhead community-wide discussions at the monthly Front Porch Gathering events.
