UIL’s Charles Breithaupt Inducted into Hall of Honor
Charles Breithaupt, associate vice president and UIL executive director, was inducted into the City of Palms Clinic Hall of Honor at a Jan. 26 ceremony in McAllen, Texas. The Hall of Honor recognizes coaches, athletic directors and administrators who have made significant contributions to athletic programs in the Rio Grande Valley. The City of Palms Clinic began in 1970 and is held annually for coaches from high schools from the San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley areas, to come together and share ideas and grow in their profession. Breithaupt has participated in the clinic for the last 27 years and is a major contributor to the Rio Grande Valley sports scene.
Greater Austin Black Chamber Honors Ruben Cantú
The Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce named Director of Inclusive Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ruben Cantú as Community Leader of the Year at an awards ceremony on Jan. 29. The GABCC recognized Cantú for his demonstrated commitment to community and leadership through the creation and influence of legislation to increase entrepreneurial and innovative equity in the broader Austin community.
