DDCE Welcomes Thousands of Visitors at Explore UT

Thousands of visitors braved the cold to discover what’s next at the annual Explore UT event on March 2. Amidst the many interactive games, workshops and performances across campus, the DDCE hosted a number of activities throughout the day showcasing the good work of our many centers, units and initiatives.
Below is a listing of several events that highlight diversity, inclusion and academic success—from Braille writing to College Readiness Bingo to adventures abroad!
Memory Card Game—a traditional memory game featuring students from the university’s diverse student body. Hosted by the Office of the Vice President.
College Twister Competition—an exciting twist on the game of Twister in which each circle represents a different college in Texas. Hosted by the Longhorn Center for School Partnerships.
DDCE Information Booth—where visitors can learn more about the mission of the DDCE and the exciting initiatives and resources it has to offer. Hosted by the Office of the Vice President.
Flags of UT’s Global Village—displaying flags from the 125 countries represented by current UT Austin students. Hosted by the Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence.
Braille Writer—where visitors can learn how people with visual impairments use Braille to read, and to also see how Braille is made by watching a Brailling machine in action. Hosted by Services for Students with Disabilities.
College Bingo—a fun game of Bingo that showcases the value of college-readiness programs and initiatives. Hosted by the Longhorn Center for School Partnerships.
Paying for College: Scholarships, Loans, Grants and Work—a workshop designed to explore multiple ways to pay for college while minimizing the cost of living and debt. Hosted by the Multicultural Engagement Center.
College Admissions for First-Generation Families—an informational workshop designed to help first-generation college students and their families prepare for success. Hosted by the Multicultural Engagement Center.
Life as a College Student—a workshop providing advice for prospective college students on how to stay engaged socially and academically. Lessons also included strategies for building a successful college career. Hosted by the Multicultural Engagement Center.
Horns Around the World—an information session on the study abroad opportunities provided by the Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence and the Office of Global Leadership and Social Impact. Hosted by the Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence.
MEC Identity Collage—an artistic activity highlighting diversity and cultural programming on campus. Hosted by the Multicultural Engagement Center.
Dragon/Lion Dance Team—a special performance by UT’s Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team.
