It’s that time of year, and we don’t mean football season! The Hearts of Texas fundraising drive, part of the State Employee Charitable Campaign, began October 1 and runs through October 31.

Since 1996, the Hearts of Texas Campaign has enabled members of the university community to help those most in need. Never has it been more important as many families have lost loved ones and many primary wage earners have lost their jobs due to the current pandemic. Because it has been such a difficult year for many in our UT community, we are suggesting that employees consider giving to the UT Foundation agency code 228176. The Foundation supports many of our students, employees and families in need through the UT Student Emergency Fund, UT Staff Emergency Fund, and Friends of Orange Santa.

Also, there are more than 500 other charities to choose from, all of which have been screened for efficiency and effectiveness. From venerable national organizations like Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity, to small and lesser known charities like Hospice Austin or the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, you’re sure to find a worthy cause that is near to your heart.

For more information or to contact your department representative listed on the Hearts of Texas webpage: https://heartsoftexas.org.

You may give online via a monthly payroll deduction. Due to COVID, we are not accepting other forms of donation. If you need additional help or information, please contact Milly Lopez, Division of Diversity and Community Engagement: m.lopez@austin.utexas.edu.
