UT Austin Honored for Diversity, Inclusion Efforts

For the seventh time, The University of Texas at Austin has been awarded the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHTS into Diversity magazine.
The HEED Award committee takes into account many factors beyond the quantitative data provided and considers campus leadership and accountability, campus organizations, clubs and events for students and employees, institutional branding efforts and roles and responsibilities of the chief diversity officer. Also taken into account are “intentional and significant measures to support populations that have been traditionally underserved on college campuses.”
“In a year marked by racial unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic, we were honored to recognize 90 universities and colleges for their outstanding work in diversity and inclusion,” said INSIGHT into Diversity publisher Lenore Pearlstein. “The award is designed to recognize institutions that understand the importance of diversity education and inclusion and that the commitment requires continuous work and dedication. The University of Texas at Austin is one of these exceptional institutions that is a role model for their peers and beyond.”
