MEC Launches New Diversity and Inclusion-Focused Workshop Series

This fall, the Multicultural Engagement Center (MEC) has launched a new workshop series for undergraduates who are interested in building their leadership skills around the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The free workshops, offered throughout the fall semester, will be held in person at the William C. Powers (WCP) building, room 1.102. Students have the option to enroll in one or all four of the following workshops.


This is Who I Am: Identity Exploration
Through self-reflection activities and group discussions, students in this workshop start to explore the multiple factors that shape their identity.


Power and Privilege: Moving from Awareness to Action
In this workshop, students reflect on and identify their own privilege(s) and explore various ways that they can use privilege to activate change.

Microaggressions: Understanding Impacts of Our Words and Actions
In this workshop, students learn to define microaggressions, understand their impact, and respond when they recognize a microaggression.


Recognizing Implicit Bias
In this workshop, students learn about where biases come from as well as how they can manage their biases to create equitable spaces.

This new series was inspired by the MEC’s diversity workshops that are offered by request to student organizations, fraternities and sororities and various members of the Longhorn Community. The workshops selected for the series are among the most requested workshops that are high in demand throughout the academic year.

Workshops will be taught by MEC Assistant Director Krysta Chacon and MEC Student Program Coordinator Hollie Yang. Space is limited for safety precautions and masks are strongly encouraged. Visit the MEC website to sign up.
