Celebrating Pride Month

June is nationally recognized as Pride Month, a time for millions of Americans to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community at festivals, parades and many other festive gatherings. In honor of this important time of reflection, we rounded up some events and workshops that are happening throughout the month. University Events and Workshops
Texas Exes Pride Alumni Network/PEFSA Hangout
What: The Texas Exes Pride Alumni Network and the Pride and Equity Faculty Staff Association (PEFSA) are hosting a hangout event for members of the university community to connect and celebrate Pride Month together.
When: June 17, 5-7 p.m.
Where: Cheer Up Charlies, 900 Red River St.
Ally Toolkit: Part 1
What: Hosted by the Gender and Sexuality Center, the Ally Toolkit Part 1 workshop is designed to help university employees support LGBTQ+ community members and promote social justice in their classrooms, offices and conversations. This workshop can be taken as a standalone or as a prerequisite for the Ally Toolkit: Part 2.
When: June 15, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ally Toolkit: Part 2
What: This workshop is a continuation of the Ally Toolkit: Part 1 with a focus on practicing allyship.

In Austin
Rainbow on the Creek
What: A free family-friendly Pride Month celebration featuring live music and entertainment. The Gender & Sexuality Center will be tabling at the event from 12 to 5 p.m. Go to this Facebook page for more information.

Razzle Dazzle Upcycle Event & Queer Art Show
What: A free event featuring clothing makeover booths, a clothing swap and an LGBTQ art exhibit. Go to this website for more information.

Where: Dougherty Arts Center, 1110 Barton Springs Road
Queerbomb
What: A pride march and rally organized by and for Austin’s queer community that celebrates varied genders and sexualities within the community. Go to this website for more information.

Save the Date! Austin Pride Parade and Celebration
What: A city-wide Pride Month celebration featuring floats and live entertainment.
When: August 20
