DDCE Fall 2022 Welcome Events

UT Hookem Welcome Back

The fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 22, and the campus will soon be buzzing with resource fairs, speed-friending events, live performances and more! In addition to the large-scale university-wide celebrations, there are several welcome events offered by student-serving units and centers within the DDCE that can help new and returning Longhorns find their communities on campus.

The GSC Welcomes Me!
What: Stop by the GSC to learn more about its many offerings. The event will include speed friending, snacks, secret handshakes and more. Throughout the day, the GSC will provide revolving tours of the space.

LILI students

Latina/x  and Indigenous Leadership Institute (LILI)

The Pink Welcome
What:
A fund and festive welcome event introducing students to LILI,  an initiative that supports  Latina/x and indigenous students through culturally relevant programming that amplifies and affirms their voices. 
When: 4-6 p.m., Aug. 24

Multicultural Engagement Center (MEC)

New Black Student Weekend Block Party (Afrikan American Affairs)
What: The Block Party is a celebratory event that promotes undergraduate success. The event also informs students about resources available on campus that will enhance their college experience.
When: 7 p.m., Aug. 19
Where: Jester, Spanish Oaks Terrace

¡Adelante! (Latino Community Affairs)
What: Adelante is a resource fair geared toward Latinx students. The fair is open to all students and will feature food, music, various fun activities and prizes.
When: 5 p.m., Aug. 25

Bloq Party (Queer People of Color and Allies)
What: The Bloq Party is a resource fair and welcome event to support LGBTQ+ students. The fair is open to all students and will feature music and live performances.

Four Directions (Native American and Indigenous Collective)
What: Four Directions is a welcome event and resource fair that gives new and returning students a sense of community and insight into the native and indigenous presence at UT Austin. This year’s event will feature food, music, a live performance and more.
When: 5 p.m., Aug. 30
Where: SAC, Black Box Theater

CultivAsian (Asian Desi Pacific Islander American Collective)
What: CultivAsian is both a resource fair and fall welcome celebration for the university’s Asian/Asian American Pacific Islander community.
When: 5 p.m., Sept. 1
Where: Texas Union Ballroom

MEC Open House
What: Stop by the MEC to learn more about its many offerings.

RGV Familia welcome event
Welcome Bienvenida 

What: A fun and festive welcome event for new and returning students from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV)  featuring food, games and a piñata.
