Celebrating Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month

October is Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month as well as National Disability Employment Awareness Month! To spread awareness about people with disabilities, Disability and Access (D&A) is hosting several events throughout the month. Visit the D&A website to learn more about the services and resources they offer to the university community–from accommodations assistance to advocacy trainings to community outreach.
Film Screening & Conversation
What: Come enjoy a pairing of short films and engage in conversation around themes of disability, identity and equity. Please RSVP.

Disability and Access Student Group Virtual Hangout
What: Members of various student groups whose work relates to disability issues are invited to attend this virtual hangout to learn more about each other’s work and opportunities to get involved.
When: Tuesday, Oct. 18, 5-6 p.m.

disABILITY Advocate Foundation Training
What: Offered to UT Austin students, faculty and staff, the disABILITY Advocate Foundation training introduces concepts about disability, accessibility and inclusion. The training also includes opportunities to learn and discuss how to be a disABILITY Advocate on campus. Register via UT Learn (search for disABILITY Advocate Foundation in course listings).
When: Thursday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Adapted Sports Night

ADA Forum
What: Voice Your Concerns at the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Forums. The ADA Accessibility Committee is hosting a virtual open forum to solicit campus input and suggestions on issues that fall under the scope of the ADA.
When: Wednesday, Oct. 26, 12-1:30 p.m.

Lime Connect Workshop
What: Are you a student with a disability? Join Lime Connect to learn more about the opportunities available to jumpstart your career! Lime’s Outreach and Engagement Specialist will be on campus to discuss the Lime Network, the Lime Connect Fellowship Program, internship/career opportunities, scholarships and more.
