“Taking the IE journey helped me realize I can confidently graduate from this university with the knowledge and skills needed to become a passionate and successful playwright or actor.” [Fall 2013 IE Kuhn Scholar Ja’Michael Darnell, the first in his family to attend college]
Ja’Michael also notes: “As a result of IE I wrote a ten-minute play called The Electric Lady that was selected for the 2013 UT Bridge Festival and was requested to be produced again in the course, Producing the Black Performing Arts. I will now enter into the last semester of my undergraduate career with more knowledge about playwriting and graduate school with a host of connections. In addition, I made the decision to audition for three MFA programs in Playwriting. With the support provided by virtue of being selected an IE Kuhn Scholar, I am able to audition now for these graduate programs–while still in school! Making the decision of interning in this program was one of the best decisions I made during my college career. All UT students should get the experience of being a part of the Intellectual Entrepreneurship Pre-Graduate School Internship.” – Ja’Michael Darnell
