The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), through the leadership of Vice President Dr. LaToya Smith, was given a charge by President Hartzell to refocus and sharpen the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Action Plan (formerly UDIAP). The DDCE is currently working with faculty, staff and students to restrategize our action plan. While working on this new plan, The University of Texas at Austin has made concerted efforts to make the campus a more inclusive and welcoming place.
As we strive to be a national leader in diversity, equity and inclusion, the DDCE is working collaboratively with colleges, schools and units across our campus. In order to promote fair outcomes, we need to ensure our commitments to our students, faculty, staff and community. The plan will serve as a roadmap for conversations, resource allocation and assessments needed to make UT Austin a model for universities across the nation.
Goals

- Exemplify our university’s comment to DE&I
- Engage with our faculty, staff, students and community members
- Create a clear and defined plan with concrete action items and defined metrics
- Design a DEI operating model and governance structure
- Develop a communications plan and change management strategy
