About:
The South Texas Alternative Breaks trip is an educational and service trip focused on the social issues of immigration, specifically in the McAllen and Brownsville area during Spring Break. Throughout the week, we will be committing ourselves to learn about the challenges and stories that many immigrants and allies share. We hope to expand knowledge on the topic of immigration as we explore this subject through various means of community engagement. We will be volunteering with local community partners to gain a better understanding of social issues by communication and working with local organizations. As we incorporate our different values into what we do in the community, we hope to serve and learn more about the social justice issues affecting not only the community in South Texas, but also our own community in Austin.
