In an introduction, the writers note that this special issue presents quantitative and qualitative empirical research on the different stages of the educational pipeline for African American males and address some of the apparent gaps in the research literature by focusing on what educational researchers and social scientists need to know to understand how each stage of the educational pipeline impacts the other stages.
