Join us for the 2014 UT Spring Volunteer Fair next Wednesday, February 19, from 10am-3pm on Speedway Plaza! The volunteer fair is a great opportunity for students to learn about a number of volunteering opportunities throughout the UT and Austin community.
Statistics show that nearly 74% of all current UT students have volunteered either on campus or within the Austin community during their time at UT. The UT Volunteer Fair aims to increase those numbers by bringing together students with a myriad of volunteer opportunities.
“Most students decide to volunteer as a means of giving back to their community, but it’s also a great opportunity to do some career exploration”, says David Galvez, Community Projects Coordinator at the Longhorn Center for Community Engagement. “The LCCE has partnerships with literally hundreds of community partners, providing various volunteer opportunities in a wide array of fields, including education, medicine, public health, and engineering.”
Joined by over 70 community partners, Learning Together Equestrians will be bringing a miniature therapy horse to help with therapy demonstrations, and Texas Iron Spikes will, once again, be grilling their famous chicken tacos. Stop by for a visit!
