November Service Events
Nov. 13 – Very Merry Children’s Charity Party multiple shifts on registration page
The Very Merry Children’s Charity party will raise funds for children’s programs in Central Texas. There are many shifts available from early decorating, set up, guest check-in, raffle & silent auction assistance, and late clean up. Volunteers are welcome to attend the event before or after their shifts. Information and registration here.
Nov. 14 – UTSS Signature Event at Blackshear Elementary 9am to noon
This day of service will be held in order to prepare the Blackshear Elementary campus for Little East, a collaborative arts exhibition- part of the East Austin Studio Tour featuring AISD student and professional artists from the East Ausin Area. There will be stations to help prepare Blackshear that include schoolyard and interior improvements. Activities will range from painting, fence art, setting up student art displays, storm drain painting, digging a pond in the garden, and even covering benches with mosaic art! Nov. 14 – Southwest Keys 1pm tp 5pm
Join Candlelight Ranch in assisting special needs and at-risk children learn, play and health through nature programming, equine therapy and challenging course activities. Information and registration here.
Nov. 14 – Fall Yard and Building Clean-up multiple shifts on registration page
Parents and staff of Starbright Preschool come together to prepare for the coming fall. We have mulch and gravel to move, gardens to prepare, playground equipment to repair and wood tables and structures to stain. Come prepared to get dirty. Lunch will be provided. Nov. 15 – Tejas Club & TX Sweethearts 10am to 12:30pm
The Tejas Club and Texas Sweethearts, two of our stellar UT service organizations, will be our cleaning up and enhancing Pease Park Conservancy. Tasks are TBD, but we’ll have work suitable for all ages and interests! The park will provide all the tools and gloves. Volunteers are encouraged to wear close-toed shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty. Register here.
Nov. 16 – Trash to Treasure Sale multiple shifts on registration page
Come check out next Trash to Treasure sales of the semester! Gently used shirts, jackets, pants, shoes, water bottles, Halloween decorations and much more…all for just $1. Nov. 17 – Music Matters Luncheon multiple shifts on registration page
Join Kids in a New Groove with one of their largest events of the year! Keynote speaker will be Kathy Valentine, who will speak about the significance of music and the impact it can make for Texas youth in foster care. Volunteers will be performing several different duties, from set up, check in, leading attendants to their tables, running a silent auction table, and taking donations. Nov. 21 – Youth and Government District Conference multiple shifts on registration page
Calling all professionals to help guide and evaluate high school mock-trial cases or high school and middle school students through the legislative process. We are looking for judicial evaluators, legislative section advisor and media relations support. Information and registration here.

Nov. 22 – Blue Genie Danger Derby multiple shifts on registration page
Fusebox is once again collaborating with our friends at Blue Genie on the 4th Annual Danger Derby – the rowdiest closing party of the East Austin Studio Tours. We’re putting together a trackside A-team and need you to join our crew! Information and registration here.
Nov. 26 – Texas Football Gameday Sustainability 4:30pm to 9:30pm
Texas Athletics bleeds orange and lives green! We need volunteers to help us monitor recycling and compost bins making sure people are disposing their items correctly. Responsibilities include educating fans about recycling and composting, monitoring recycling and compost bins and sorting through trash/ recyclables when needed. Volunteers will be given free T-shirts and a meal voucher for their time.Information and registration

Foundation Communities

Elementary/Middle Tutoring
The Neighborhood Longhorns Program offers an ongoing option of tutoring at multiple elementary schools and middle schools around Austin. These tutoring days are often on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For more info, click here.
DSACT Speech Program
The Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas is looking for volunteers to work with children, 1-2 times a month on Saturdays, on directed plays, preparing the space for instruction, as well as aiding families with challenging behaviors. For more info click here.
Horse Boy Playdate
Join the staff at Horse Boy Foundation in a weekly Saturday playdate for Autism families. The playdate is two hours long and includes back-riding,long- lining, tricks, sensory work, small animal petting zoo, arts and crafts or educational games and activities. More info click here.
UT Concho Community Garden
Volunteers needed every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and Saturday from 10am to 12pm at the UT Concho Community Garden (Located on E. 21st St. and Concho St.) Come help out with things like: weeding, planting, helping with compost, decorating, as well as find out some new tricks about growing your own vegetables. Childcare Volunteer
Any Baby Can is looking for reliable and long-term adult volunteers to help their Family Education Team provide childcare during parenting classes hosted at public housing locations. This opportunity repeats weekly on Monday and Wednesday from 12:00pm- 2:00pm. Sign up here.
Early Learning Readiness Program
YMCA of Austin Program services is conducting a 15 week early learning readiness program in which volunteers would assist the YMCA in updating the current 15 week curriculum to continually adjust to the ever changing education requirements for preschoolers. Volunteer also engaged in teaching the 15 week program which is offered in 3 locations across the city. This repeats weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Information and registration here.
SibKids Club
Easter Seals Central Texas is holding a monthly group for kids ages 6-9 that have siblings with special needs. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the activities, help with set up and clean up, and provide assistance wherever needed. For more info, click here.
