Hellooo Longhorns! This past week, LCCE hosted it’s annual Be the Change Week events which consisted of our Campus Service Project, the Volunteer Fair, and the Be the Change Day of Service. Be the Change is a citywide day of service, in celebration of Gandhi’s birthday, and inspired by his legacy.
On September 25th, we hosted our Campus Service Project, where we helped students create sustainability bags out of Gandhi-inspired t-shirts. Over a hundred students participated in this event, potentially saving at least a hundred plastic bags from being used!
The UT Volunteer Fair brought several community-based organizations together, in effort to gain potential volunteers in the near future. Students looking for volunteer opportunities had a variety to choose from, and surely had the option to cater to their interests. If you didn’t stop by to check out, Peanut, the mini horse… you definitely missed out!
On September 29th, the final day of our week-long festivities, LCCE promoted 23 project sites for Be The Change Day. The city-wide event gave volunteer opportunities to the students of UT, allowing them to Be The Change!
Overall, it was an eventful week and we hope that we have played a role in inspiring all of you to #BeTheChange.
