The Center is committed to connecting members of historically underrepresented communities with resources at UT that can help them preserve their rich and vital legacies.
Ongoing efforts in the area include:
- The creation and management of the John S. Chase Archive, in collaboration with the Black Diaspora Archive at LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections. The collection will include historical records from Mr. John S. Chase, as well as other notable cultural and historical archival research and materials.
- Ongoing collaboration with UT faculty and staff, organizations, archivist, and individual community members on projects that further the visibility and histories of marginalized communities in and around Austin.
- Serve as consultants and/or resources for community members both at UT and in the Central Texas area, on the history of marginalized communities in Austin and beyond.
- Working with UT students interested in capturing the stories of Central Texas in different ways. Examples are listed below.
