Friday December 5th is the last day of class but it is also the deadline to use the following options. These dates are University deadlines and cannot be altered. If you have questions about your situation or the options listed below please come to our office in SSB 4.206 between 9am-4pm during our Walk In hours to meet with a Coordinator who can review the options in more detail.
Medical Withdrawal
University Health Services (UHS) and the Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) process medical withdrawals (MW) when significant medical or mental health problems affect a student’s ability to attend classes or perform academically. Although all applications and documentation are to be submitted to Services for Students with Disabilities we do not make the final determination for these requests. A completed application and supporting documentation must be submitted to the SSD office in SSB 4.206 by 5pm. The application and instructions are posted at the following link: http://diversity.utexas.edu/disability/course-load-reduction-and-medical-withdrawal/.
Course Load Reduction for Graduate Students
Graduate students need to submit completed course load reduction application and supporting documentation to the SSD office in SSB 4.206 by 5pm. The application and instructions are posted at the following link: http://diversity.utexas.edu/disability/course-load-reduction-and-medical-withdrawal/ . If a student is already registered with SSD and approved for a Course Load Reduction, no additional documentation is needed, although a completed application is still required.
One Time Exception Drop/Withdrawal
Undergraduate students who may not have urgent, substantiated, nonacademic reasons will be allowed to drop a single class or withdraw from the University after the deadline to drop or withdraw for academic reasons under the provisions of the One-Time-Exception (OTE). A student must request the OTE from the student’s dean’s office by the last class day. Forms must be returned to the student’s dean’s office before the first day of final exams. SSD does not play any part in the OTE process.
