In Fall 2018 we received 37 nominations for Appreciation Awards! We are glad so many SSD students had great experiences with faculty and staff in the fall semester and took the time to send in their nominations. The full list of nominees is available in PDF form at the following link: SSD Appreciation Award List Fall 2018. The full list of past nominees is available on the SSD Appreciation Award page of our website.
Here are some excerpts from students’ nominations:
“I set up an appointment to discuss my accommodations and I never had a professor be so kind and understanding. He made sure that I took advantage of all of my accommodations and assured me that he would do his best to make his class accessible. I had a very positive experience working with him this semester! |
“He was understanding of my personal needs for the class and motivated me to do as much as I could without overworking myself. He was there for me during the process of becoming registered with SSD and was willing to do whatever I needed him to do so I could get the necessary help.” |
“I struggled a lot this semester before receiving official accommodations through SSD and Dr.Anderson worked with me throughout the entire process to ensure that I was able to truly show that I understood the course material. He did this in a way that made me feel that he truly cared about me as a student and as a person that he wanted to succeed.” |
“Dr. Pritchett introduced me to the SSD program and showed me all the helpful opportunities it has. This helped make my work load feel much more achievable and like college isn’t impossible. She changed my college experience for the better for sure. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.”
We appreciate all our faculty and staff who make UT more accessible, inclusive and welcoming for students with disabilities!
