disABILITY Advocate 101 for the Student Employee Excellent Development (SEED) Program
- October 2nd from 5-6pm in SSB 4.212
- Tuesday October 15th from 3-4pm in SSB 4.212
Student employees will learn knowledge and skills to be ABLE to work more effectively and confidently with people with disabilities within their jobs on campus. This workshop uses discussion and activities to learn about disabilities and accessibility at UT and to prepare student employees to work toward a more accessible and inclusive campus.Student employees should register for SEED workshops on the UT Learn system: https://utlearn.utexas.edu/ . If you are not a UT Austin student employee but want to attend a SEED workshop, please email seed@austin.utexas.edu with your name, EID, and the name and date of the workshop you want to attend.
disABILITY Advocate Foundation Training: October 8th from 1:30-3:30 on POB 2.402.
The 2 hour disABILITY Advocate Foundation Training open to faculty, staff and students. The Foundation training is designed to facilitate open conversation and provide an engaging learning environment through interactive activities and discussion. Participants will learn specific strategies to make campus more accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities within their role at UT. Each participant will receive a disABILITY Advocate placard that indicates completion of the program and willingness to be an advocate on campus. Register via UT Learn: https://utlearn.utexas.edu/
disABILITY Advocate Instructor Training/Creating Inclusive Learning Environments: October 9th from 9:30-11am in POB 3.408.
Hosted by SSD and the Faculty Innovation Center, this workshop will provide instructors with concrete strategies to proactively design learning environments in which all students have access and opportunities to succeed. Using the educational framework Universal Design for Learning, learn processes for accommodating students with disabilities as well as how to anticipate and embrace all the diversity of our UT students by implementing evidenced-based teaching and learning practices. Using case studies, discussion and time for questions this training is perfect for new and experienced instructors! Neurodiversity Training Wednesday October 16th from 1:30-3pm in FAC 328
Neurodiversity is a concept where neurological differences, such as Autism, ADHD and mental health conditions, are recognized and respected as any other human variation. Come learn more about embracing neurodiversity on our campus and what you can do to work toward an environment that is more accessible and inclusive for neurodiverse students.
