My first travel abroad experience with DDCE Global’s “Sustainability and Futurism” program
was transformative, offering me profound insights into Emirati culture and the diverse cultural fabric of the Middle East through first-hand exploration and many conversations with locals. It fueled my passion for learning beyond the traditional settings, leading me to an enriching work experience in Senegal as part of the inaugural “Sweatt in Senegal” internship in Dakar. There, I worked with Tanel Health, a pharmaceutical software company, where I honed my skills as a software developer and data analyst. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork and adaptability in an ever-changing workplace. In addition to the technical skills, my internship offered an enriching cultural exchange, where I had the opportunity to learn French and Wolof, forging a deeper connection with my coworkers and the local community in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
I was able to explore my ancestral heritage as part of the African diaspora which came from Senegal in ways that further contributed to my overall growth and development as a person. Reflecting on my experience, I can confidently say that DDCE Global has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey. It has helped to provide me with a unique platform to apply my skills in a real-world setting while helping me gain a broader perspective on the world and the career paths I may take. I am immensely grateful for these opportunities, and I look forward to applying the skills and insights gained from this experience in my future endeavors.
