Resilient leader, skilled photographer, & conceptual creative, Amarachi Ngwakwe uses visual media as a medium to create platforms for underrepresented communities and explore topics like race, identity, and culture. A senior Humanities major and Visual Media Minor, Amarachi is actively engaged on campus, as an officer for African Student Organization and a Video Editor for Orange Magazine. Her career goal is to reshape narratives about underrepresented communities through visual media and promote mutual understanding in a world that is frequently divided because of misinformation and misrepresentation. Last summer Amarachi traveled to Costa Rica with DDCE. From the experience, she learned how to think of social issues on a global scale, gained an appreciation for a different culture by living with a host family, and was empowered to gain more travel experiences. This summer, she will study abroad to London to learn how to produce a short documentary.
