Project: Dubai 2023, Teaching Assistant
Why: I have been a part of the DDCE family since I was a freshman and absolutely enjoy working with these people and seeing the ever-increasing heights we can reach together. On top of that, I attended the inaugural 2022 Dubai trip and that was easily one of the most transformative experiences of my life, to the point where it encouraged me to travel the world internationally post-grad. To be able to help other people have a similar, or even more impactful experience, is an honor and a blessing. I chose to help with the Dubai program because I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my time with any better people.
Why GSF: I applied to be a part of GSF because like my reasoning behind helping with Dubai, I love the DDCE family and its global impacts. Taking people to places they’ve never been before, seeing cultures they didn’t even know existed, and experiencing life at a level they didn’t think possible is more than an admirable initiative. I wanted to do what I could to sustain and build upon the impacts already made and GSF was the perfect way for me to find my way in.
Favorite Memory: Last year, my boy Tarsus and I spent our free day together in Dubai. While everyone found something to do, we went to a local eatery, sat, and talked. We opened up about a lot of different parts of ourselves and I felt so willing to do so given the environment. Later that day, we traveled with a passing group to the Burj Khalid and went to the top. The spontaneity and connection that day were like none other. The most beautiful experiences I have had with DDCE haven’t been the scheduled ones, while those are amazing, it is the humbling, human experiences I have with the people a part of it.
