Tyeria Evans is a first-generation student completing her fourth year at The University of Texas at Austin. Tyeria is receiving a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Human Development and Family Sciences with certification in Business Foundations. In 2018, Tyeria spent five weeks in Cape Town, South Africa studying urban economic development and interning with Ikamva Ubomi, a non-governmental organization in a colored community. Tyeria is actively involved on campus, as well as within the city of Austin, through several organizations such as the research program called ProjectSEED, the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement as a Global Student Fellow, and the Longhorn Youth Association which she founded in Fall 2018. The organization provides workshops regarding applying to and navigating college to underrepresented youth in East Austin high schools. Tyeria Evans is also a member of the 2019 Teach For America Corp and will be moving to New Orleans, Louisiana upon graduation to teach middle school mathematics in a Title I school.
