Exploring Tokyo and Kyoto will provide an invaluable opportunity to engage with both the contemporary and the traditional aspects of Japanese culture. Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is known for its technological advancements, and offers insights into cutting-edge trends and innovations. In contrast, Kyoto is the historic capital of Japan that is embedded with a deep and rich history. Kyoto, known for its traditional architecture and preserved practices, is a living classroom for those fascinated by history, art, and traditional culture. Our trip to Tokyo and Kyoto will be a remarkable educational journey that will immerse students in a wide variety of experiences from the height of modernity to the depths of history.
Program Objectives:
- Students will understand the historical, cultural, and social contexts of Japan
- Students will understand the importance of global awareness
- Students will critically analyze biases and assumptions of Asia
- Students will study modern Japan’s technological and cultural innovations, understanding how these advancements interact with and sometimes challenge traditional practices.
