The Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign, The University of Texas at Austin’s tradition of charitable giving, received the Capital Area State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) award for the most payroll promises for a state agency with more than 1,500 employees. The campaign was also awarded for the highest retiree participation in Central Texas.
Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and the generosity of UT Austin’s employees, a total amount of $503,351 was raised, meeting 100 percent of the campaign’s goal. Everyone who contributed has made it a little easier for the charities to reach their goals and missions in the coming year.
As part of the SECC, Hearts of Texas provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and retirees to contribute to more than 500 charities. Organized by the DDCE, the campaign runs throughout the entire month of October. Since this effort began in 1996 UT Austin has donated over $13 million to worthy causes.
