The Hearts of Texas Charitable Campaign is The University of Texas at Austin’s tradition of charitable giving. The campaign a part of the larger State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers and the generosity of UT Austin’s employees and retirees, a total amount of $391,146 was raised in the 2020 virtual campaign. These contributions have no doubt helped charities navigate the many challenges of the pandemic, and we thank you all for your support.
This year will once again be a virtual, payroll-giving only campaign. With the continued effects of the pandemic, nonprofits need us now more than ever. To accommodate flexible work arrangements, we are continuing the following adjustments to the 2021 Hearts of Texas charitable giving campaign:
- This will be a Payroll Giving campaign, as we are unable to accept cash or check gifts
- CSU and Department Giving Reports cannot be updated–we ask all 2020 CSU district coordinators and department reps to serve again in 2021
- All communication and fundraising will be electronic, no in-person special events
- We are unable to distribute incentive gifts this year
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash and check donations from retirees. Retirees are among our most loyal supporters. They have established the tradition of giving as one UT community through their time on campus and beyond. We hope to welcome them back next year!
Organized by the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), the campus-wide campaign runs throughout the entire month of October. Since this effort began in 1996 UT Austin has donated about $14 million to worthy causes. Visit the Hearts of Texas website for more details.
