I am pleased to announce the launch of the annual Hearts of Texas Campaign, a university-wide fundraiser that benefits hundreds of charitable organizations throughout Central Texas that serve our most vulnerable communities. Since the campaign’s inception in 1996, we have raised more than $13 million to charities across the state—and that number continues to grow thanks to our generous and supportive Longhorn community.
By filling out a quick and easy payroll deduction form, you can make a big impact on one or more causes that are close to your heart. I encourage you to visit the State Employee Charitable Campaign website and look through the extensive listing of organizations that are performing remarkable services for our society.
This is a great opportunity for you to open your heart and your pocketbook to make an impact on homelessness, hunger, natural disaster relief and many other life challenges faced by underserved communities. These impactful organizations do this work all year long, but they can only fulfill these vital services if donors support them. So, I encourage you to give generously.
Please join me in making this Hearts of Texas Campaign a big success this year! Each gift, of any amount, makes a difference and moves us closer to achieving our goal.
With gratitude,
Dr. LaToya Smith
