To all of our UT APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) students who participated in the survey and focus group, we heard you!
Last fall, in partnership with the Center for Asian American Studies (CAAS), the Multicultural Engagement Center (MEC) conducted a survey to gauge students’ interest in bringing back GraduAsian, a ceremony held to commemorate the many achievements of UT’s graduating Asian American students with family and friends. With the overwhelming consensus and the desire for the return of this celebration, the MEC and CAAS held a focus group to gather students’ opinions on the critical components that should be a part of this celebration for spring 2020.
Since then, a committee was assembled, and the GraduAsian committee worked tirelessly for the revival of this celebration. However, with the current pandemic, we had to make the hard decision to postpone the revival of GraduAsian.
We are excited and have already begun the planning for Spring 2021. During these unprecedented and uncertain times, we hope that you are taking care of yourselves.
Congratulation to all of our graduating APIDA students!
A special thank you to our committee member, Angela Lowe, who beautifully executed our design concept for our GraduAsian stole.
