Over fifty educational leaders from across the state of Texas convened in Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas last Friday October 24, 2014 for the third statewide Consortium meeting. The Texas Education Consortium for Male Students of Color (TECMSC) is a statewide initiative that brings together K-12, college and university educators to address attrition rates for young males of color. Highlights of the meeting included the introduction of the Advisory Council, a regional partners panel where participants shared some of their current best practices around male-focused student programing at their respective institutions. Our meeting concluded with Dr. Luis Ponjuan’s report where he shared some of the initial findings from our site visits conducted earlier this year. Dr. Ponjuan also provided additional information about confirming and planning future site visits. We are excited about our progress thus far and look forward to bringing you more updates regarding our work with the consortium.
