On Tuesday November 4, 2014, Dr. Luis Ponjuan, Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development and Executive Director of Investing in Diversity, Equity, Access, and Learning (IDEAL) at Texas A&M University, along with his graduate students, Leticia Palomin and Susana Hernandez hosted the Consortium research team for the first of several joint research meetings. The Consortium’s Executive Director Dr. Victor Saenz was joined by Claudia Garcia-Louis and José R. Del Real Viramontes, two of his graduate research associates.
During this day-long planning session we had an opportunity to share thoughts about the Consortium’s most recent meeting in San Antonio on October 24 at Palo Alto College. Following the debriefing, the group engaged in strategic planning for the Consortium work that needs to be completed in the next six months. This includes organizing our schedule for site visits which will continue on January 29th-30th at the University of Texas in San Antonio. In addition, the teams developed post site visit tasks to ensure timely and accurate reports to include recommendations that can be used by Consortium members and partners once they have been completed.
The next scheduled joint research team meeting for UT-Austin and Texas A&M will be held January 19, 2015 at our Consortium headquarters. On this day, the group will plan for the first 2015 site visits as well as the fourth Consortium meeting hosted by Lone Star College-CyFair in late February. Stay tuned for more updates regarding our Consortium work and our upcoming events.
