On May 5, 2015 President Obama announced the launch of a new non-profit, the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance. Building on the success of his MBK initiative announced last year, the MBK Alliance is a nationwide initiative whose goal is to ensure that MBK fulfills its mission, by uniting leaders across philanthropic, nonprofit, and private sectors to improve life outcomes of boys and men of color; by mobilizing resources and generating commitment from private sector partners; and by providing an infrastructure to support a national movement.
Project MALES and the Texas Education Consortium for Male Students of Color are proud to be supporters of the MBK Alliance and stand ready to help. We will do our part by expanding on our current work on behalf of boys and young men of color and aligning with community partners, organizations, and institutions across the state of Texas. We are especially supportive of the MBK Alliance mantra to “Change the Narrative” for boys and young men of color, a lesson that all of our communities should embrace.
