For the third year in a row we will host the Texas Male Student Leadership Summit at the University of Texas at Austin on August 11-12th. This year we are expecting a record crowd of young men of color and professionals representing five Independent School Districts, fifteen community colleges, and fourteen universities from across the state of Texas.
This year we are excited to introduce pre-summit Student Interests Groups (SIG) featuring workshops on going to college and graduate school. We are also introducing a new track for high school students to go with our college student track and our professional track. Each of these tracks will feature sessions on our three themes, Brotherhood, Leadership, and Career Readiness.
We are also excited about our featured speakers and presenters that are coming from across the country.
This year we will also have a book signing session with Dr. Victor Sáenz and Dr. Luis Ponjuán for their new co-edited book, “Ensuring the Success of Latino Males in Higher Education: A National Imperative.” The book signing session will take place Thursday August 11th, from 5:00-6:00 p.m at the Student Activity Center (SAC). We look forward to a great event! Stay tuned for our post-summit highlights.
