A group of PM affiliates led by Dr. Victor Sáenz, Founder and Director of Project MALES and the Project MALES Faculty and Research Affiliate Program, Dr. Nolan Cabrera, Associate Professor in the Center for the Study of Higher Education Department of Educational Policy Studies & Practice College of Education, University of Arizona, Dr. Raul Leon, Associate Professor in Educational Leadership, at Eastern Michigan University, and Dr. Richard Reddick, Associate Professor in Educational Administration, at the University of Texas at Austin, will be part of a panel symposium at the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) Annual Conference.
The goal for this symposium is to spotlight the innovative scholarly work of several Project MALES Faculty/Research Affiliates. Our Faculty/Research Affiliate program aims to raise the visibility of our affiliates’ research on young males of color by amplifying their work to our growing national network of P-16 practitioners and administrators. Additional objectives of this symposium include to: (1) discuss the emerging research agenda for studying Latino males in higher education; (2) foster collaborations among this network of scholars (and session attendees); (3) build capacity by cultivating talent among younger and emerging scholars in attendance. Our ultimate aim is to engage session participants in redefining Latino male student success and re-envisioning the research agenda through critical and asset-based perspectives.
We look forward to sharing highlights about the symposium as well as future PM affiliates collaborations.
